2007 Fair Theme

"LET FREEDOM RING "

All school, clubs, scouts, homemakers, etc. Booths (Division 1-9) must PRE-REGISTER
by September 15, 2007.


Schools, clubs, scouts, homemakers, etc. Booths (Division 1-9) may begin work on their
booths, Thursday, September 20, 9:00 a.m. Deadline for completion of booth is 12:00
noon, Saturday, September 22, 2007.


Registration for Division 10-44 will begin Saturday, September 22, 8:00 a.m. until
5:00
p.m. and Sunday, September 23, 2007, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.


NOTE: Deadline for registration of Division 10-46 is Sunday, September 23, 2007.

General Rules

1. Competition is open to DeKalb County residents. Exception: any Boy Scout Troop in the Sequoyah District is eligible.

2. Premiums positively will not be paid on items not listed. Ribbons will be awarded.

3. The V.F.W. reserves the right to change any and all rules and declare off any classes or premiums because of acts of God, excessive rains of cause not within the power of the management to control.

4. Individual exhibits and flower exhibits will be accepted Saturday, September 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All Exhibits must be in place not later than 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007. Guards will be furnished Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23. All exhibits may be removed by owners, Sunday, September 30, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No guards will be responsible for commercial exhibits not removed by Monday October 1, at 3:00 p.m.

5. Unless otherwise listed in catalog, judging will be Monday, a.m. September 24, 2007.

6. The names of the schools, communities, or clubs having booth exhibits will be left off until after the judges have made the awards.

7. Premium checks may be picked up Sunday, September 30, at the fairgrounds. The individual exhibitor must pick up his or her won check. Those not picked up by Sunday will be mailed within two weeks.

8. Where there is no competition, the judge shall have the authority to place awards according to merit of the article or exhibit.

9. While every precaution will be taken for safeguarding exhibits, it should be understood that the exhibits in competition for prizes and that the owner assumes all responsibility for any accident, loss, or damage that may occur. Neither the fair association, the V.F.W., its officers or agents, will be responsible for any such accidents, loss or damage.

10. Unless otherwise stated, exhibits entered for competition will not be permitted to be sold or removed during the progress of the fair. These may be sold the last day of the fair but are not to be removed prior to the time specified in No. 4. above.

11. Articles on display must not be handled by visitors.

12. Clubs or organizations that entered booth exhibits last year and enter again this year must have a theme different from last year.

13. Clubs or organizations that enter booth exhibits must not duplicate any exhibit shown the previous year. Those exhibitors that do so will not be judged and will receive only fourth prize money.

14. Exhibitor must also observe any additional rules that apply to the different classes in which their exhibits are entered.

15. Exhibitor may enter only one item per class, per family.

16. No one club may have more than one booth exhibit.

17. Gate Passes

  • one gate pass good for admission only will be awarded to each individual exhibitor for one or more exhibits
  • six gate passes for each booth exhibit for competition.
  • gate passes not good after Friday night.

18. Exhibitors may remove their exhibits on Sunday, Sepember 30, 2007, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. upon presentation of entry claim check.

19. Advertising on the grounds by means of posters, prints, handbills, samples, etc. will not be permitted, except upon agreement with the management.

20. No soliciting of funds, selling, etc. will be permitted, except upon agreement with the management.

21. Clubs, communities, schools, etc. may complete their booths, Thursday, September 20, and Friday, September 21, 2007. Booths must be completed by Saturday, September 22, 2007, 12:00 noon.

22. Clubs, communities, schools, etc. must take booths in consecutive order in each class assigned by Fair Committee.

23. Commercial and special exhibitors may put their booth up Friday, September 21, 2007. Each booth must be completed by Sunday, September 23, 12:00 noon. Guards will be furnished Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, 2007.

24. Only one business per commerical space allowed. No sharing of space.

25. Commerical and special exhibitors are to remain in commerical and exhibit building all week (Monday thru Saturday). You may dismantle your booth on Sunday, Septmeber 30 and Monday, October 1, 2007.

26. No club, organization, group or individual will be permitted to sell or serve food, drink, or any other items that conflict or are in competition with the V.F.W. Auxiliary concession or concessions on the Midway.

27. All booths are 69" x 69" inside measurement. All booths will be built on existing floor. NO booths will be more than 5" tall. See drawing below for other dimensions.

28. All club and school booths will be pre-registered no later than September 15, 2007.

29. The V.F.W. Fair Committee will award a "Best of Show" ribbon and a $50 cash prize to the highest scoring booth.

30. Checks will be issued upon complete removal and clean up of your exhibit on Sunday, September 30, 2007, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

31. Prize money will be reduced if all exhibit materials are not removed by 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2007. This includes complete clean up of exhibit area and removal of all nails, tacks, and staples from booth frames.

32. ART: Definition of "Professional Artist

  • if the artist accepts commissions for profit
  • if the artist's works are reproduced commercial for profit
  • if the artist teaches art
  • if the artist is in business and has a shop where he/she sells his/her work and/or has a license to be in business.

33. No pets will be allowed in exhibit buildings or cattle area.

34. No electrical outlets are available for Divisions 1-9.
